VJC BIG BAND SWINGS INTO SPRING
Vermont Jazz Center, Brattleboro, Vermont
The Vermont Jazz Center swings into spring with a special Big Band
Night at the VJC's Cotton Mill home in Brattleboro. From 8-10:30 the
17-piece all-star band will play tunes for ample dancing and great
listening. Enjoy jazz standards and improvisations by some of the
best jazz instrumentalists in the region. The band will be joined by
award-winning 17-year-old jazz vocalist, Sarah Elizabeth Charles.
Tickets: $12 per person; $20 per couple; $10 for students and

"The VJC's own Big Band returns for the 3rd annual Big Band Gala,
which promises to be as fun-filled as the last two. Formed in 2002,
the VJC Big Band is an ensemble of professional musicians from
throughout the region. The band hones the works of maestros such
as Duke Ellington, Thad Jones, and Gil Evans, and they have been
honored to perform the music of composer and trombonist, Rob
Levitt. Rising start Sarah Elizabeth Charles will join them on stage
once more. This remarkably accomplished young singer has
earned many honors and numerous scholarships to prestigious
music programs, including the Vermont Jazz Center's Summer
Workshop, where she has studied with Sheila Jordan. The event will
be a high point for area swing dance enthusiasts, as well as jazz
audiences."
